Playtesting in June! Come sign up

Lots happening in the Dream Team Supreme side of the world. In April, the team showcased the game at Armageddon Wellington. Thank you so much to every player who gave the game a spin! The event was a hectic blast haha; over 70 players gave it a try and filled in our survey. The showcase was during Easter weekend and we all took a week off to recover after that. When we came back, we jumped straight into addressing the feedback. Here are some of the things you liked the most about Dream Team Supreme:

  • "I liked the co-op aspect and the somewhat complex card system"
  • "I like the strategy element, finding the optimal synergy between the deck and how you attack and defend"
  • "I liked how somethings came at a cost but gave back good abilities"
  • "I loved the unique abilities of each boss"
  • "I liked the artstyle and the variety of cards and upgrades. I'd like to play it again"

That was great to hear. We love these too and will keep making them better. Here's where players want the see the most improvements:

  • Communication on where buffs and debuffs are being applied, and general feedback to the player on how a round will play once you lock in
  • I sometimes was unsure about what the different abilities were/what the cards did
  • UI felt clunky sometimes, probably needs some animations
  • It feels a little slow

We feel that too. Even though we see the game everyday, we also realize that we're doing the math in our heads when we play. That's a lot to think about. We've addressed the first three points for the next build and would love to learn from you if it still feels slow, now that giants are moving and all the actions are called out when they happen in a much more direct way.

We think the itch.io demo is a good proof of concept on the mechanics of the game. There's still a ton of work to do and we're excited to do it. However, the biggest missing piece now is a larger audience to validate that the world is as hungry for Dream Team Supreme as we are eager to make it awesome.

For the next phase of development, we need 3 things:

  1. more playthroughs
  2. more playthroughs per player
  3. more co-op playthroughs

To get there, we've decided to concentrate the next run of updates into playtests. This will help us achieve a few things. Firstly, everyone playing at the same time gives us a bunch of feedback in one shot and time to act on it before the next test. Secondly, players talking to each other about their experiences brings up deep issues and opportunities to make fun things even "funner".

If you're interested in joining the first playtest in June, just go to http://wwww.bigadventure.games/ and sign up for the playtest. If you've got a friend you'd like to play with, send them to the same link to sign up. Easy haha.

For a sneak peak at some of the updates, have a look at Sami and Tom play through it in our first co-op stream.

Stay super,
